Carolyn Roy has a passion for fitness that is out of this world. Her exquisite physique and seductive curves say "she's all that."

Carolyn has competed in over 20 amateur bodybuilding competitions and placed in the top five in all. Her most treasured title, Ms. All-Natural, was her first overall win. Carolyn continues to spread her wings, always willing to try something new. Her transition from bodybuilding to fitness gave her a new focus. In her debut fitness appearance at the Ms. Galaxy, she placed 5th in the swimsuit round and had a respectable first-time finish in the obstacle course, leaving her in the top 15 of over 80 competitors. She plans to compete again this year in both the Ms. Galaxy and the Women's Tri-Fitness contests. Carolyn's focus on fitness competitions has allowed her to balance her busy home life with her love of the sport. She and her husband, Paul have two sons who keep them on the go. Maurice, age 11, has a brown belt in Taekwondo and plays basketball. Seth, age 5, is just starting T-ball. Carolyn realizes that with the demands of work and family, she does not have the time needed to train for bodybuilding. "Unfortunately, there are only 24 hours in a day! With fitness, you just do not have to 'cut down' as much. This gives me more time to spend with my family."

When asked how she got started in weight training, she credits her husband. "At the time we met, I knew nothing about weight training. I had never lifted a weight, let alone knew what it meant to train a body part." At the time they met, Paul was an amateur bodybuilding competitor. In 1998, Paul turned professional, as a natural bodybuilder. He has captured several titles, including Mr. Hercules.

Carolyn feels blessed for all that she has achieved. "I am truly grateful for the support of my husband and boys." One of her greatest achievements, and most inspirational, is going from almost 200 pounds to her svelte fit frame of 125 pounds. Everyone she meets is flabbergasted by her accomplishment and wants to know her secret to staying so fit. If there is a secret, Carolyn does not know it. She just trains very hard, starting at 4 a.m. She also takes care of herself emotionally by pampering herself to weekly spa treatments. "I never do my hair or nails! I leave that to the professionals."

Born April 17, 1965, Carolyn is not only gorgeous but also very intelligent. She has a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Howard University, and a M.S. in engineering management from the University of Maryland. Carolyn is a program analyst for the Department of Defense Chemical and Biological Defense Program. This program is responsible for equipping and protecting the soldier in case of a chemical or biological warfare attack. "Since September 11, our agency has received a lot of attention from Congress and the White House to determine what role we can play in homeland security."

Carolyn, a native Washingtonian, comes from a family of overachievers. Her parents, both retired attorneys, raised three independent daughters. Anica, the youngest, is a computer systems engineer and plans to pursue a law degree. Rosalyn has her Ph.D. in electrical engineering and is an associate professor at the Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Engineering. Although Carolyn is the oldest, she is often mistaken for the youngest. That's fine with her…and her boys who think she's a cool mom.

Blessed with beauty, poise and a compassionate heart, Carolyn burst onto the pageant scene this year, winning first runner-up in the Mrs. Virginia-America Pageant. "It was such a thrill and joy to be a part of this event." Admitting to having a preconceived idea that pageants are superficial, she now believes that pageants are a positive vehicle to help others in their lives. In her interview question, Carolyn stressed the importance of providing a loving family in home for children in foster care. Carolyn plans to participate in both the Mrs. Virginia-America Pageant and Mrs. Virginia-International pageants next year, advocating adoption as her platform.
